David Morrow

I am researching DESCENDANTS and ANCESTORS of David's Father, Finlay MORROW.

He was born about 1802 and died 29 March 1874 having married Mary HERON 19 October 1820 at Killinchy Parish Co. Down Ireland.

David's Home in Co Down Lismore, Bishopscourt, Co Down. N.Ireland

This is the house where David's parents Finlay Morrow and Mary Heron (Herron)lived. The small covered entrance way is a recent addition. The house is stands on land farmed by Norman Morrow, (descendant of Finlay) and his wife Anne.

Finlay was my Great Great Grandfather and one of his sons David was the start of my NZ branch of our family

And the USA branch of our family

Finlay, possibly had a brother Thomas, as there is also a record in the LDS of Thomas marrying a Margaret HERON on 13 May 1820 at the same location.

So it is possible two brothers married two sisters.

David, Born(May 25th, 1838 at Lismore, (Downpatrick) Co. Down, Ireland.

He married Elizabeth BAILIE, Born Sept.1st 1853 at Ballynahinch Co. Down, Ireland) They were married at Ballynahinch Co Down on July 21st, 1877. It was David's second marriage, his first wife was Madeline BASSETT, she and her son having died at childbirth.

David and Elizabeth returned to New Zealand. David had been there previously and established a farm machinery business, Morrow Bassett and Co. He imported McCormick Reapers and Binders.

He also farmed and raised his family at "Montalto", (named after an estate near Ballynahinch, Co.Down, Northern Ireland) in Mid-Canterbury of the South Island.

His eldest son Robert William MORROW was my grandfather

David had a brother, Finlay who went to the USA and settled at Cohoes near Albany, NY. He was in the hardware business there.
